Ingredients

Apple Topping
  • 2 Gala apples
  • 1/2 cup maple syrup
  • 3 tsp corn starch
  • extra virgin olive oil
Donut Batter

Equipment

  • Donut Mold
  • Mixing Bowl
  • Pot

Method

  1. Dice 2 large Gala apples and start cooking on the stove top on medium heat with a little bit of olive oil to coat the bottom of the pot. Add 3 tsp of cornstarch and ½ cup of maple syrup, and cook for 25 to 30 minutes. Stir regularly to prevent it from sticking to the pot.
  2. While apple topping is cooking, in a mixing bowl, add and mix self-rising flour, maple syrup, olive oil, almond milk, maple extract, cinnamon, nutmeg, and ground allspice using a silicone spatula.
  3. Using a donut mold, fill each section with up to 2/3 of its level using a spoon. With a 3-inch donut mold, I found the recipe makes about 15 donuts.
  4. Bake the donuts for 13-15 minutes at 350°F (180°C) until they are golden brown outside.
  5. Add apple topping and enjoy!
